Revelstoke, BC and Revelstoke Mountain Resort hold a reputation as one of the world’s best destinations for skiing. One of the challenges (and advantages) of Revelstoke is the remoteness of the town, situated along the TransCanada Highway, Revelstoke is a 2.5 hour drive from Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and 4.5 hours from Calgary International Airport (YYC).
Kelowna has recently announced new direct-flight services from two major US cities, LA and Seattle.
On July 10th, 2024 Alaska Airways announced they will be offering daily direct flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Kelowna for the winter ski season. These three hour flights are scheduled to depart LAX at 10:35am and arrive in Kelowna (YLW) at 1.45pm. Visitors can easily book transfers to Revelstoke through Revelstoke Transfers or rent a car at the airport. The LAX to YLW flights will begin December 19, 2024 and end March 17, 2025, search flights here.
In addition to LA, WestJet Airlines announced on July 26, 2024 that it is starting daily direct flights from Seattle to Kelowna in January 2025, just in time for the 2025 ski season. These one hour flights are scheduled to depart Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) at 11:30am arriving into Kelowna (YLW) at 12:40pm, giving travelers plenty of time to transfer to Revelstoke in time for dinner. Looking at the early booking prices, these flights are probably cheaper than the gas to drive the seven hours from Seattle to Revelstoke—and a lot more convenient!
Once you arrive at Kelowna International Airport you have three options to transfer to Revelstoke: rental car (winter tires and AWD is required during winter months), airport shuttle, or private transfer. Most private transfers are usually via private SUV, but direct Helicopter transfers are also available—weather dependent.
These daily direct flights make a long weekend to Revelstoke very doable, and a week-long trip very enjoyable!
